Musical foundation
Liam Diethrich is a composer, violinist, and educator based in Los Angeles. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition from The Juilliard School and a Master of Music in Screen Scoring from the University of Southern California, with a background that bridges concert music, film scoring, violin performance, and music theory.
His work has been recognized by organizations including ASCAP, The American Prize, and the Maurice Ravel International Composition Competition, and he has collaborated with Grammy-winning ensembles. As a teacher, Liam works with students ranging from serious beginners to advanced young musicians, composers, and adult learners, helping each student build a stronger technical and artistic foundation.
Private instruction
The best private instruction is specific. A lesson should reveal what a student is ready to understand next, then connect that insight to clear musical work.
Lessons identify the student’s actual habits before assigning a routine.
Technique, theory, and craft connect to form, listening, and interpretation.
Musical structure supports expressive purpose, whether performing or composing.
Students
The studio serves committed students at different stages who want serious, personal instruction without a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
Introductory lesson
The most useful first step is a short inquiry describing the student’s background, goals, and schedule. From there, Liam can recommend the right lesson format.
